Australian governments recently conducted a two part national survey to determine the compliance rate (of appliances that carry a valid label) in retail outlets of products displaying the Energy Rating label.
The first stage of the survey was completed in December 2000. It was aimed at providing retailers and manufacturers with instant feedback following the label transition period (1 July 2000 - 1 October 2000) and to provide government with feedback on how well retailers/manufacturers have adjusted to the label change.
Stage 1 of the survey was completed in December 2000 and covered 150 stores in regional and metropolitan areas of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Over 14,500 electrical appliances were examined which included:

The Stage 2 survey found that retailers and manufacturers are well on the way to a complete changeover to the new Energy Rating label, with the new label displayed on 78% of the total compliance sample. This is a significant improvement on the Stage 1 results. The downloadable PDF file contains full results.
