Summary

This report was prepared in October 2007 by Energy Consult Pty Ltd, for the Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) Committee.

The RIS communicates to stakeholders the rationale and most important issues and questions relating to the regulatory proposal. The RIS responds to submissions received following the April 2007 release of a STB cost-benefit analysis (CBA).

Stakeholder responses to this RIS will be used to prepare a decision RIS on the introduction of MEPS for digital STBs imported and sold in Australia and New Zealand which will be considered by the Ministerial Council on Energy and, if endorsed, will result in Australian state and territory legislation and New Zealand legislation being amended to prohibit from sale products that do not meet the standards.
