Development of a Global Standard for the Testing of Clothes Washers: Stage 1 - Load and Detergent (600 kB)

This report was prepared in September 2006 by Energy Efficient Strategies under contract to The Equipment Energy Efficiency committee (E3). Contributions to the report were also made by Test Research.
On the 5th August 2005, EL 15-4 Working Group No. 9 was formed with a task to investigate options for moving towards a more international approach to the testing of clothes washers intended for sale in the Australian and New Zealand markets.
That working group subsequently made the following recommendations to the EL 15-4 Standards committee:
The working group recommended that the adoption of a global standard should be a staged approach and that the first stage should cover two aspects:
This report details the outcomes from those investigations. In particular this report details the measured impacts on the full range of performance measures including wash, rinse, severity of wash, water extraction and energy and water consumption.
