This page contains details of the international compact fluorescent lamp harmonisation initiative (CFLI) which is being support by the Commission for Sustainable Development (CSD).
The goal of the International CFL Harmonisation Initiative (CFLI) is to increase the availability of higher quality, energy efficient compact fluorescent lamps around the world. Stimulating CFL sales will dramatically reduce the energy consumption of household lighting and abate greenhouse emissions. A wide variety of lighting stakeholders are developing a single testing methodology acceptable throughout the world together with tiered performance requirements for this efficient form of lighting, and tied together with organized compliance activities, all intended to decrease trade barriers and stimulate higher market share of efficient lighting.
Two documents are available for download from this page. The first is the background paper titled
Communities of Practice: Stimulating demand for and facilitating trade in energy efficient products which summarises the concept of communities of practice and provides some information on CFLI as a case study.
The second document is the
CSD Partnership Registration Form for The Compact Fluorescent Lamp Harmonisation Initiative (CFLI). This is a program that is Australian Greenhouse Office and UK Department of Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
Documents are available as a PDF file. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to view it. The Adobe Reader is a free product.
