Summary

These documents outline the results of two intrusive surveys of household installations to quantify the clearance around small electric water heaters that are installed in cupboards and under benches. The purpose of these studies was to determine what proportion of installations would be affected by changes in water heater sizes as a result of increased insulation to meet more stringent MEPS levels. The Phase I study was conducted in June 1999 and the Phase II study was conducted in August 2000.
